Message from Ron Fry regarding the death of Suresh Srivastva
The message below is from Ron Fry who together with David Cooperrider and Suresh Srivastva can be described as the original thoughtleaders around Appreciative Inquiry at the Department of Organizational Behavior at Case Western Reserve U
niversity in Cleveland, Ohio, USA
-------------------------------------------------------------
Early Saturday, May 8, Suresh Srivastva passed away peacefully at home in Sarasota with his family around him.
As many of you know, Suresh was one of the very early founders of our Department and was the primary driver in attaining academic credibility for our doctorate degree in Organizational Behavior and the first ever masters degree in OD. His leadership, scholarship and mentoring helped to shape the identity we enjoy today as a place for novel and provocative ideas, research of consequence, and a developmental approach to educating and preparing future scholars and institution builders. For myself, the learning, self discovery, and appreciation I experienced in relationship with Suresh was life changing and I am forever grateful to have known him in my life.
Suresh was cremated Sunday, May 9 in a private family service. There will be a service in celebration for him on Saturday, May 15 at 1pm at 5384 Anthony Lane, Sarasota, FL, 34233, open to all who may wish to attend.
Condolences, wishes and any other communication may be received at:
The Srivastva Family
5384 Anthony Lane,
Sarasota, FL 34233.
The family graciously invites any who so wish to make an offering in Suresh's name to the Suresh Srivastva Scholarship Fund to support doctoral students in the Department of Organizational Behavior at CWRU. (These can be sent to the Family or directly to Lila Robinson, Dept. of Organizational Behavior, 10900 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 4106-7235: Checks should be made out to "CWRU - S. Srivastva Scholarship").
For any in the Greater Cleveland area, there will be an informal gathering at Punderson State Park Lodge from 1-3 pm this Saturday, May 15. Any wishing to attend to share remembrances of Suresh, please contact Carla Carten (
carla_carten@att.net
) or Danielle Zandee (
d.zandee@nyenrode.nl
) for more details - or just show up.
